A graceful moment on set — the late Vivian Nkechika, a consummate broadcaster whose voice, professionalism, and passion for ethical journalism left an enduring legacy in Delta State broadcasting.

ASABA/Nigeria: Reacting to the passing of veteran broadcaster, Vivian Nkechika, Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has described her as a consummate professional whose distinctive voice, discipline, and commitment to ethical journalism helped shape broadcasting in Delta State.

In a condolence message issued in Asaba on Thursday, Aniagwu expressed deep sympathy with the management and staff of the Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba, as well as the Delta State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, noting that the death of the veteran broadcaster represents a painful loss to the media industry and the state at large.

He recalled that the late Nkechika, an indigene of Ekwuoma in Ika North East Local Government Area, served meritoriously as an Assistant Manager in the Programmes Department of DBS, Asaba, where she distinguished herself through years of devoted service, earning the respect of colleagues and the admiration of listeners and viewers across Delta State.

Aniagwu said the news of her passing came as a rude shock, particularly at a time when her wealth of experience, professional guidance, and mentorship were still greatly needed to strengthen standards and nurture younger practitioners within the media space.

The commissioner described the deceased as a disciplined, hardworking, and passionate broadcaster who consistently upheld the core values of journalism while contributing immensely to public enlightenment and societal development through her work.

He commiserated with the immediate family of the late broadcaster, the leadership and members of the NUJ, as well as the entire DBS family, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and to grant her soul eternal rest.

Aniagwu further urged media practitioners in the state to sustain the legacy of professionalism, integrity, and excellence which Vivian Nkechika stood for throughout her career, adding that although she is gone, her contributions to broadcasting and journalism in Delta State will remain evergreen and continue to inspire future generations.
