ASABA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko has presented a detailed account of his stewardship in the Delta North Senatorial District, outlining a range of interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic empowerment, while signalling plans to deepen development efforts as the 2027 political cycle approaches.
In a message to constituents, the lawmaker emphasised that his representation has been anchored on tangible outcomes rather than political rhetoric, maintaining that his approach prioritises inclusive growth and measurable improvements in living standards across communities.
Highlighting key achievements, Nwoko pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects, including the deployment of solar-powered streetlights in both urban and rural areas, which he said have improved security and stimulated economic activities after dark.
He also referenced the installation of electricity transformers in several communities, a move aimed at restoring power supply and supporting small-scale enterprises.
On water supply and environmental sustainability, the senator disclosed that solar-powered boreholes have been provided to enhance access to clean water, alongside erosion control and drainage projects designed to tackle flooding and protect agricultural land and residential areas.
Education, he noted, remains central to his development agenda. He cited the construction and renovation of classrooms to improve learning environments, as well as scholarship programmes that have supported at least 150 students within the district.
In addition, about 1,500 students across the nine local government areas of Delta North benefited from sponsorship for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
Nwoko further highlighted expanded scholarship schemes, including support for students under a Sports University initiative and a broader programme that has reached hundreds of beneficiaries beyond the district.
In the health sector, the senator said medical outreach initiatives have delivered free consultations, diagnostics and medications, particularly targeting underserved rural populations.
He added that several primary healthcare centres have been renovated and equipped to enhance service delivery.
Addressing public health concerns, Nwoko pointed to intensified malaria prevention and treatment campaigns, alongside a legislative effort to establish a National Malaria Elimination Agency, which he said is nearing a critical stage in the National Assembly.
Agriculture and economic empowerment also featured prominently in his report, with the senator noting that farmers have been supported with access to tractors, improved tools and inputs, while initiatives in fish farming, livestock and cassava processing are being promoted to strengthen food production and value chains.
He also referenced capacity-building programmes for youths, women and small business owners, including training in digital skills and financial support aimed at boosting entrepreneurship.
Community development projects such as market construction and the building of modern town halls were highlighted as part of efforts to enhance commerce and civic interaction across Delta North.
Looking ahead, Nwoko said his priority would be to scale up ongoing projects and extend development to underserved communities within the district.
“Our focus remains on continuity, stability and sustained progress,” he said, expressing optimism that continued support from constituents would enable him to consolidate achievements and deliver greater impact in the years ahead.
