EFFURUN/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured residents that his administration will continue to tackle unemployment by creating more job opportunities for youths through aggressive infrastructural development and strategic collaboration with construction companies operating in the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Monday while addressing workers at the Julius Berger Nigeria Plc project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, where he reiterated his administration’s commitment to projects capable of stimulating economic growth and improving the living conditions of the people.

Oborevwori said rising unemployment and economic hardship remained major concerns for many families, stressing that government had a responsibility to initiate programmes and projects that would provide hope and sustainable means of livelihood for young people across the state.

“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited. That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community,” the governor stated.

He noted that contractors and workers handling projects in different parts of the state were contributing significantly to the economy and the development of host communities, adding that such efforts deserved public support and encouragement.

The governor disclosed that his administration would continue to award more projects to Julius Berger as part of plans to deepen infrastructural renewal while simultaneously expanding employment opportunities for residents, particularly within the Warri and Effurun axis.

Oborevwori further revealed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout to NPA Road corridor had already been awarded to Julius Berger in line with the state government’s urban renewal agenda for the Warri/Effurun metropolis.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for economic reforms introduced by the Federal Government, saying the policies had improved revenue inflow to states and enabled governments to undertake more developmental projects and meet salary obligations promptly.

The governor urged workers and stakeholders to continue supporting the Tinubu administration and candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections to sustain ongoing development efforts across the country.

Speaking on major infrastructure projects in the state, Oborevwori explained that the completed Trans Warri-Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project had yet to be inaugurated because government was awaiting the completion of the Ubeji-Ifie Road.

“We are determined to complete important projects across the state, including roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure. Some of these projects may not yet be completed, but work is ongoing, and when they are completed, the people will enjoy the full benefits,” he said.

The governor expressed appreciation to workers, contractors, and supporters of his administration for their commitment to the state’s development agenda, assuring that his government would remain focused on people-oriented projects and policies.

He also prayed for divine protection over workers, residents, and road users across Delta State, expressing confidence that the ongoing projects would stand as enduring legacies of progress and development for future generations.
