Delta Police Impound 22 Vehicles, Arrest Three During Crackdown in Asaba

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has intensified its proactive policing strategy with the impounding of 22 vehicles and the arrest of three suspects during a coordinated crime prevention and enforcement operation within the Asaba metropolis.

The operation, carried out on May 8, 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police on visibility policing and strict enforcement of extant laws across the state. The development was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Edafe Bright, in a statement issued in Asaba.

According to the statement, the enforcement exercise involved a combined team of operatives drawn from the Department of Operations (DOPS Buffalo), Special Enquiry Unit, and Operation Delta Shield, who embarked on aggressive patrols aimed at combating crime and restoring order within the state capital.

The Command said the affected vehicles were impounded for various traffic and regulatory violations, including driving unregistered vehicles, operating without registration number plates, driving against traffic regulations, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police authorities also confirmed the arrest of three suspects accused of obstructing and assaulting officers while they were carrying out their lawful duties during the operation.

The Command reiterated its commitment to professionalism, fairness, and strict enforcement of the law without regard to social status or position, stressing that efforts to strengthen public safety and security across Delta State would be sustained.

The police further urged residents to remain law-abiding and continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information capable of assisting in crime prevention and maintenance of public order.
