ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly will on Sunday, June 14, 2026, hold a grand thanksgiving service and reception to commemorate the third anniversary of the inauguration of the 8th Assembly, an event expected to spotlight the legislature’s achievements and its collaborative relationship with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

The anniversary celebration comes amid growing commendations for the synergy between the legislative and executive arms of government, a partnership widely credited with supporting the implementation of policies and programmes under the state’s MORE Agenda.

Chairman of the Planning Committee and member representing Warri South I Constituency, Hon. Augustine Uroye, PhD, JP, disclosed that the thanksgiving service is intended to appreciate God for His guidance, protection and faithfulness to members of the Assembly since their inauguration on June 13, 2023.

According to him, the milestone presents an opportunity to reflect on the journey of the legislature over the past three years, celebrate its accomplishments and reaffirm its commitment to quality representation and effective lawmaking for the people of Delta State.

The thanksgiving service is scheduled to hold at 10:00 a.m. at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Region 34 Headquarters, Unity Model Parish, located behind the Junior Staff Quarters in Asaba, while a reception will immediately follow at the Legislators’ Quarters along Okpanam Road.

The event is expected to attract top government functionaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, party faithful, civil servants and citizens from across the state.

Hon. Uroye extended an invitation to Deltans and members of the public to join lawmakers in celebrating what he described as three years of purposeful legislative service and democratic advancement.

Over the past three years, the Delta State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has maintained a close working relationship with the executive arm of government led by Governor Oborevwori, facilitating the passage of key legislative measures aimed at accelerating development across the state.

The Assembly’s support for the implementation of the MORE Agenda has been reflected in legislative interventions touching on critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and economic development.

Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Nkem Nwaeke, noted that the House has recorded notable milestones through the passage of impactful bills, motions and resolutions designed to strengthen governance, promote accountability and improve the welfare of citizens.

He said the Assembly has remained committed to its constitutional responsibilities of lawmaking, oversight and representation while ensuring that its legislative agenda aligns with the aspirations of Deltans and the developmental priorities of the state government.

According to Nwaeke, the thanksgiving service provides an opportunity to appreciate God for the peace, stability and achievements recorded by both the legislature and the executive over the last three years.

He added that the event would also serve as a platform for lawmakers, legislative staff, their families, political stakeholders and citizens from the state’s 29 constituencies to celebrate their collective contributions to the growth and development of Delta State.

Nwaeke called on Deltans, irrespective of political affiliation, ethnic background or religious belief, to participate in the thanksgiving service and join in prayers for sustained peace, unity and progress across the state.

As the 8th Assembly marks its third anniversary, the celebration is expected not only to highlight legislative accomplishments but also to underscore the enduring partnership between the State Assembly and the Oborevwori administration, a relationship many believe has contributed significantly to governance and development in Delta State.
