ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to the family of former Commissioner for Health, late Dr. Joseph Sisanmi Otumara, at his country home in Ugbuwangue, Warri South Local Government Area, where he urged the people of the area to sustain the peace, unity and harmony the deceased worked tirelessly to promote during his lifetime.

The governor, who was received by members of the Otumara family, community leaders and sympathisers, described the late physician, politician and community leader as a humble and peace-loving elder statesman whose life was devoted to the service of humanity and the development of his community.

Speaking during the visit, Oborevwori said the large turnout of mourners reflected the profound impact Dr. Otumara made on the lives of people across different communities.

According to him, the late former commissioner was widely respected because of his simplicity, accommodating nature and commitment to fostering peace and unity among his people.

“I knew Dr. Otumara many years ago. He remained the same humble and peaceful man throughout his lifetime. He was a man who brought people together and never discriminated against anyone. He loved his community and always worked for the unity and progress of the people,” the governor said.

Oborevwori noted that one of the greatest tributes to the late elder statesman would be for the people to preserve the peace and unity he championed throughout his life.

“What we owe him now is the commitment to sustain the unity and peace he worked so hard to build. Dr. Otumara was a peaceful man who accommodated everyone. Whenever I visited his home, I always found people around him because he was respected by all,” he stated.

The governor also reflected on his personal relationship with the deceased, describing his passing as painful and a great loss to Warri South and Delta State.

While signing the condolence register, Oborevwori prayed for God’s comfort upon the family and for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

Responding on behalf of the family, Dr. Andrew Megbele thanked the governor for his support and friendship towards the late Dr. Otumara, especially during his illness, and expressed appreciation for the condolence visit.

He said the family remained grateful for the concern and commitment shown by the governor before and after the passing of the former commissioner.
