EFFURUN/Nigeria: The Delta State Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Dr. Patrick Ighomrore (JP), has presented specially packaged locally produced garri to the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sonny Akporokiamo Ekedayen, describing the gesture as an expression of appreciation for the opportunity to serve in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
The presentation took place at the commissioner’s residence in Effurun Government Reserved Area (GRA), where Ighomrore explained that the garri, produced from cassava he cultivated, was part of his effort to promote local agricultural produce while expressing gratitude for his appointment.
According to him, he had resolved from the onset of the farming project that the finished product would be dedicated to appreciating the confidence reposed in him by the state government through his appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Community Development.
Ighomrore said he had distributed the product to residents in different communities but considered it important to formally present the specially packaged version to the commissioner.
Receiving the gift, Ekedayen commended the initiative, describing it as a thoughtful gesture that also highlights the importance of encouraging local agricultural production and community-driven enterprise.
He urged political office holders across the state to use their positions to initiate programmes and interventions capable of improving the lives of people in their communities, stressing that public service should be measured by positive impact on citizens.
The commissioner also encouraged continued support for policies and programmes aimed at advancing the development objectives of the Delta State Government.

Edafe Emakpor; Vice Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon. Andrew Agagbo; APC Chairman in Uvwie Local Government Area, Comrade Dickson Sylvester Oghenevwede; APC Secretary in the council, Hon. Christian Eshenake; Pastor Vincent Ekedayen, and other party stakeholders and associates.
