Asaba: Contrary to speculations making the round, governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has debunked that the former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori has never contemplated nor decided to join the All Progressive Congress, even as he said he is a born again Christian.
Governor Okowa, who addressed journalists in press centre government Asaba, said Ibori is not interested in joining APC, but rather he is interested in reuniting with members of his family.
He argued that the thirteen percent oil derivation to the South South States was not adequate for the development of the region, noting that the cost of roads construction in the region cannot be compared with the cost in the Northern part of the country.
On issue of herdsmen, the governor noted that it is a national problem which can only be solve through the establishment of ranches, even as he maintained that the nation constitution allowed free movements of citizens to any part of the country.
The Independent Power Projects, Oghara in Ethiope WestLGA, governor Okowa said investigation regarding what to do with the projects is still ongoing, explaining that the earlier analysis on the projects was not adequate. “We are still doing a lot of investigations regarding what to do. Can will resell it or privatise it or revive the IPP? that analysis is still being done.” He stated.
According to the governor; “first in my agenda is jobs creation, to create jobs for unemployed youths and to encourage the private sector.”
He also announced that henceforth, he will be spending more time in Warri since the government house there has fully been renovate.
On the alleged ten billion naira Okowa said, “I have since become a born again and i don’t think of mistress how much more to give state money to.”
