Farmers in the country has been called to embrace the Central Bank of Nigeria Anchor Borrowers Program, in order for them to benefit from the apex bank agricultural program.
This was the stand of the project monitoring team of the CBN Anchor Borrowers Program led by the chairman Mr Mathew Badaiki, has distributed 60kg rice seedlings, herbicide and sixty cartons fertilizers to ALFIOGUS Rice multipurpose cooperative in Irri Avaira Isoko south LGA.
While handling the inputs to the farmers, the chairman PMT Mr. Badaiki explained that CBN Anchor programme is an upgraded system of assisting and supporting farmers to boost the agricultural system which has been neglected in the country adding that it is no longer the usual hand to mouth system of farming.
According to him ‘ farming is the only means to boost and enhance the economy system in the country, it cannot be neglected, We cannot run away from farming nobody can do without food, this is your morning wake up and embrace anchor. Anchor is meant for small Petty farmers, Initially farmers connive with input supplies to share loans which are meant to be paid and CBN decided to review the process, the whole essence of the verification exercise is to ensure that the real farmers benefits, the bad eggs must not corrupt the good eggs we needed to profile and verify the farmers we will deal with. The opportunity is here embrace it”.
Meanwhile the commissioner for Agriculture and natural resources Mr. Austin chikezie who is also a member of the team, in his goodwill message, said that the ABP started all like a child’s play which has tuned into a reality.
Chikezie urged the farmers to key into the programme as government is as government is fully involved.
Noting that the state government is doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the Programme becomes a success in the state adding that the Anchor Borrowers program is a unique and genuine program and government is passionate and committed to it.
