OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency has moved to firm up its 2027 electoral strategy, unanimously adopting Rt. Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai as its sole candidate for the House of Representatives seat, in a development party insiders describe as a decisive step toward early political consolidation.
The resolution was reached at a widely attended stakeholders’ gathering in Obiaruku, Delta State, where party leaders, ward executives and grassroots mobilisers from across the constituency aligned behind the former federal lawmaker, signalling a rare consensus within the local party structure.
The adoption, which drew participants from all 30 federal wards, underscored what party leaders called a shared commitment to presenting an experienced and strategic candidate capable of strengthening the constituency’s voice at the national level.
In separate remarks, stakeholders described Ossai as a credible and tested political figure, pointing to his legislative experience and prior service in the National Assembly as key factors behind the endorsement. They argued that his return would enhance the constituency’s visibility and access to federal opportunities.
Speakers at the event also highlighted his previous achievements in office, including constituency projects, legislative contributions and sustained advocacy for the welfare of Ndokwa/Ukwuani people, expressing confidence that his candidacy would usher in a new phase of purposeful representation.
The motion for his adoption was passed unanimously, with endorsements from youth groups, women organisations and ward leaders, all pledging support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 elections.
In his acceptance remarks, Ossai expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, assuring party members and constituents of his commitment to inclusive representation and effective service delivery.
“This overwhelming endorsement is both humbling and motivating. I remain committed to justifying this trust through effective representation, strategic engagement, and the delivery of tangible dividends of democracy,” he said.
He outlined key priorities, including infrastructure development, human capital investment and the advancement of critical projects such as the Okpai Independent Power Plant step-down in Kwale and the proposed Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences Teaching Hospital.
Ossai also used the platform to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, calling for continuity at both federal and state levels.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity within the APC, as party leaders urged members to close ranks and work collectively towards securing victory in the 2027 general elections.
