ISIOKOLO/Nigeria: The APC Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum has described Chief Ighoyota Amori as a veteran political figure whose decades of involvement in Delta State politics have given him considerable experience in governance, mobilisation and political organisation.
The Forum made the assessment in a birthday message to Amori, who is the Chief Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as he marks his 74th birthday.
The message was signed by the Forum’s National Secretary and State Director of Protocol to the Governor, Chief Sunday Onoriode, and its National Publicity Secretary and Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Olorogun Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe.
The Forum traced Amori’s involvement in public affairs to his days as a student leader at the University of Benin and his subsequent participation in local government administration before taking on wider responsibilities in state and national politics.
He served in the administration of former Governor James Ibori as Commissioner for Education, Political Adviser on Political Matters and Commissioner for Water Resources. He later became Senior Political Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and represented Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
The Forum said the different positions had exposed Amori to various aspects of governance, political organisation, stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution, which it said had contributed to his continued presence in Delta’s political affairs.
It also pointed to his current position as Chief Adviser to Governor Oborevwori, saying his appointment reflected the administration’s reliance on political experience and institutional knowledge.
According to the Forum, Amori’s experience has been useful in areas including stakeholder relations, political engagement and efforts to build support around the administration’s policies.
The group also highlighted Amori’s role in the political structure of the Ethiope Federal Constituency, saying his involvement had helped bring together stakeholders and mobilise support around common political interests.
The Forum said Amori’s political career had extended across different administrations and political periods, describing his ability to remain active in public affairs as a reflection of his experience and adaptability.
“Chief Amori’s political journey is not defined merely by the offices he has occupied, but by the breadth of experience, relationships and institutional knowledge he has accumulated over the years,” the Forum said.
It described his 74th birthday as an opportunity to reflect on his contribution to the political development of Delta State and the Urhobo people, while acknowledging his involvement in public affairs at both state and national levels.
The Forum wished Amori good health, wisdom and many more years of service, expressing the hope that his experience would continue to be available to the people of Ethiope, Delta State and Nigeria.
