ASABA/Nigeria: A political support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori while calling on party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation as preparations gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was one of the resolutions reached at a meeting of the APC Delta Mandate held at the Legislative Quarters in Asaba, where members also urged party faithful to close ranks and strengthen the party’s structure across the state.
A vote of confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori was moved by the Pioneer Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, seconded by the member representing Isoko South Constituency II, Hon. Ferguson Onwo, and adopted through a voice vote presided over by the National President of the group, Hon. Isaac Anwuzia.
Addressing the gathering, Anwuzia said the group’s immediate focus was to expand the APC’s presence at the grassroots through sustained mobilisation and engagement with party supporters across Delta State.
He urged members to remain united, saying internal cohesion would be critical to the party’s chances in future elections.
According to him, APC Delta Mandate was established to complement the party’s efforts by mobilising support for its programmes and candidates, adding that members should remain committed to strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyenka, also called on party members to sustain their support for the APC, urging them to continue engaging residents on the policies and programmes of both the Federal Government and the Delta State Government.
He said the success of the party in future elections would depend largely on the commitment of members at the grassroots and encouraged them to remain focused on the party’s objectives.
Speaking at the meeting, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and APC House of Representatives candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, appealed to party members to embrace reconciliation and put aside internal differences in the interest of the APC.
Elumelu said unity remained one of the party’s greatest assets, stressing that disagreements arising from political contests should not undermine its collective strength.
He also cautioned political appointees, elected officials and other party stakeholders against actions capable of undermining the APC, maintaining that loyalty to the party should remain paramount, particularly for those occupying public offices through its platform.
The former federal lawmaker further urged the state leadership of the APC to engage appointees and elected office holders on the need for discipline and collective responsibility, while encouraging aspirants who may not secure party nominations to support those eventually chosen to fly the party’s flag.
Other speakers, including Chief Lawrence Osiegbu, Chief Patrick Ukah, Hon. Solomon Funkekeme and Chief (Mrs.) Rosaline Amioku, also canvassed greater unity within the APC, increased grassroots mobilisation and broader participation of young people in the party’s activities as preparations for the next general elections continue.
