KOKORI/Nigeria: The All Progressives Congress recorded a smooth leadership transition in Ward 6, Kokori, on February 18, 2026, as members concluded a congress that produced new ward executives and renewed pledges of grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.
The congress, which followed a series of consultations and consensus-building efforts among party leaders and stakeholders, elected Mr. Efegoma Sunday Agbogun as Chairman and Chief Johnson Egburhe as Secretary. Observers described the process as orderly and reflective of internal cohesion within the ward structure.
Prominent party figures, including James Omeru, Akpodiogaga Sunny Emeyese, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Faith Majemite and Sunday Omovie, attended the exercise and publicly endorsed the new leadership, urging members to sustain unity and strengthen the party’s base. Also present was Councillor representing Kokori DSIEC Ward 11, Hon. Oghoghorhie Oghenevwede, who joined other stakeholders in pledging support for the executives.
Chairman of the Congress Committee, Chief Omeru, commended members for what he described as maturity and discipline throughout the process, stressing that cohesion at the ward level would be critical to the party’s performance in the 2027 general elections. He urged the newly elected officials to immediately begin grassroots engagement and strategic mobilisation.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored proceedings, affirming compliance with electoral guidelines. An INEC representative present at the venue described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible, while applauding participants for upholding democratic standards.
With the conclusion of the congress, party faithful expressed optimism that the new leadership would consolidate unity, expand membership strength and enhance organisational capacity as preparations gradually begin for upcoming electoral contests.
