IDUMUUJE-UNOR/Nigeria: An atmosphere of calm, unity and conviviality defined the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress held in Idumuje‑Unor, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, as stakeholders gathered to elect new grassroots executives for Ward 8.
The ward, comprising Idumuje-Unor, Idumuje-Ugboko and Idumuje-Aniofu, convened the congress to choose officials who will pilot the affairs of the party at the local level, drawing a large turnout of members and supporters in what observers described as a peaceful and well-coordinated exercise.
Returning Officer Uche Chiejine expressed satisfaction with the orderly conduct of participants, commending members for their enthusiasm and discipline. He said the smooth process reflected the ward’s commitment to internal democracy and alignment with the Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E. agenda of Bola Tinubu and Sheriff Oborevwori.
At the end of the exercise, Peter Nzediunor emerged as Ward Chairman. Other elected officials included Josephine Moemeke as Vice Chairman; Harry Ogbechie as Secretary; Esther Egbe as Woman Leader; Faith Nwoko as Assistant Woman Leader; Nwogu Chukwuma as Youth Leader; Edith Enunwa as Assistant Youth Leader; Clement Chiazor as Financial Secretary; Evelyn Omile as Treasurer; Akabunwa Nonso as Organising Secretary; Nwokolo Ebube as Publicity Secretary; and Pius Odiaka as Auditor, among others.
Dignitaries present included the Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties, Ifeanyi Osuoza; party stalwarts Sunny Ogwu and Moemeke; the Vice-Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Clara Nneka Dibia; Executive Assistant to the Governor on Media, Norbert Chiazor; Executive Assistant in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Jossy Honnah; Senior Special Assistant Owen Dibia; Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation Kido Mohanye; as well as Ward Councillors Nnamdi Okonkwo and Ugo Enuemenem alongside other stakeholders.
Participants widely applauded the peaceful conduct of the congress, describing it as evidence of growing cohesion, discipline and political maturity within the party’s grassroots structure in the area.
