All Progressive Congress
The nationwide membership drive by the All Peoples Congress (APC) has attracted mammoth registration of members in many parts of the country.
Investigation by our crew of correspondences revealed that many, especially in the three local councils in Ndokwa want to identify with the APC. In Obiaruku, the headquarters of Ukwuani LGA, there were registration at strategic places in the town. At Umusume, the area where the deputy to Great Ogbolu in the last general election, Chief Fidelis Okenmo Tillije is from many APC sympathizers were seen registering few metres from his home.
In an interview before his registration, Chief Tillije told our correspondent in an interview that in Obiaruku alone, the party is expected to capture about thirty thousand members. As at the time of Ndokwa Reporters visit on the second day of the membership drive the registration centre had registered two thousand members.
In an telephone interview with the DPP Chairman, Mr Dafikpaku he assured that moving to the APC is not a mistake, but the right step to free the people of Ukwuani and Nigerians.
However, the leader of the group in Ukwuani, Chief Tillije was supported by a large number of party faithful’s believe that the registration will be a huge success.
In Ndokwa West LGA there was no visible sign of registration, but the old structure of the DPP in the area is said to be for the APC. Our correspondent in Kwale reported that the group, after the decamping of the Hon Azuka Azaka to PDP, the remaining members has decided to join the APC.
In Ndokwa East, the story seems to be different. The members of the DPP are not in one accord. The Chairman, Hon Ashibogu in an interview says they are already having a discussion with Labour Party which may materialise within the next few weeks.
According to the erudite politician, everyone cannot go to APC, and it is better they go to where there leader, Chief Great Ovadje Ogboru is going. He told the Ndokwa reporters that already, the remaining body of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) is having discussion with the Labour Party.
However, despite the situation in Ndokwa East, it was also discovered that some factions of the party may move to PDP, while some to APC.
