ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ede Dafinone has paid tribute to former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, recalling his contributions to governance and his efforts to foster cooperation among the state’s diverse ethnic communities.

In a condolence statement signed by Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, the lawmaker expressed sympathy with the late governor’s family and described his death as a loss to Delta State and Nigeria.

Dafinone said Uduaghan’s years in public service, spanning his roles as Commissioner for Health, Secretary to the State Government and two-term governor, reflected a sustained involvement in the administration and development of the state.

He noted that Uduaghan’s leadership was marked by attention to infrastructure and efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among Delta’s different ethnic groups.

The senator said the former governor’s approach to public service reached beyond political and ethnic affiliations, adding that his contributions would remain part of the state’s political history.

Uduaghan served as Commissioner for Health from 1999 to 2003 and Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007 before becoming governor in May 2007. He served two terms and left office in 2015.

Dafinone extended condolences to Uduaghan’s wife, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, his children and other members of the family. He also commiserated with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Delta State Government and the Itsekiri Nation.

He prayed that God would comfort the bereaved family and all those mourning the former governor, and grant Uduaghan eternal rest.
