Delta Assembly Demands Enhanced Budgetary Performance to Propel State’s Education Sector

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Education, led by Chairman Hon. Charles Chukwuemeke Emetulu, has reaffirmed the imperative of bolstering budgetary execution in the education domain to uplift academic standards within the state.

During a recent oversight excursion to various government bodies under its purview, including the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and others, Hon. Emetulu emphasized the necessity for meticulous utilization of allocated funds by these agencies.

Highlighting the significance of these visits, Emetulu, who represents Ndokwa West Constituency, underscored the government’s concerted efforts in maintaining the esteemed status of the state’s education sector nationwide. He asserted the committee’s unwavering commitment to fortifying the educational framework.

In addressing key officials from the primary and secondary education ministries, Emetulu urged proactive collaboration with the committee and emphasized the need for a comprehensive database of schools, students, and teachers to inform future policymaking.

“Delta State Government is investing massively in Education. I therefore urge you (MDAs) to be up and doing to justify government’s huge investments,” Emetulu urged, cautioning against laxity in executing projects and managing funds.

Accompanied by fellow committee members, Emetulu echoed similar sentiments during visits to other agencies, encouraging strategic partnerships and applauding initiatives aimed at enhancing teacher training and infrastructure maintenance.

Acknowledging the challenges articulated by ministry officials and agency heads, including issues of staff recruitment and infrastructure safeguarding, Emetulu reiterated the committee’s stance on prudent resource management and pledged support in addressing these concerns.

In response, stakeholders from various educational bodies reiterated their commitment to improving standards and solicited continued collaboration in overcoming prevailing challenges.
