ASABA/Nigeria: The Catholic Diocese of Warri has received condolences from Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, following the death of Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Mario Ozele, who served as Episcopal Vicar of the Ughelli Pastoral Region.
Fr. Ozele, aged 60, died in the early hours of Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after an illness. He was also the Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ughelli.
Governor Oborevwori conveyed his sympathy in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba.
The governor extended his condolences to the Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, priests, religious leaders and members of the Catholic community.
He described the priest’s death as a painful loss to the Catholic Church, his parishioners and the people of Delta State.
Oborevwori urged the bereaved Church community to draw strength from Fr. Ozele’s dedication to the service of God and humanity.
He also expressed sympathy to the deceased priest’s immediate family, praying that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
