Teachers and school administrators have been urged to adopt effective planning, regular supervision and continuous evaluation as critical tools for improving learning outcomes and strengthening school management.
The call was made during a one-day capacity-building programme organised by Grace of Light Schools, Amachai Quarters, Okpanam, in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, where education consultant, Mrs. Florence Asisisi, engaged members of staff on strategies for effective teaching and school administration.
Speaking at the training, Asisisi said planning remains the foundation of every successful educational institution because it provides direction, promotes informed decision-making and creates a structured environment that supports improved academic performance.
She stressed that supervision should not be viewed as a fault-finding exercise but as a process that strengthens educational delivery by promoting discipline, encouraging professional development among teachers and ensuring that established quality standards are maintained.
According to her, schools that consistently monitor and evaluate their academic activities are better positioned to identify challenges early, improve classroom practices and sustain excellence in teaching and learning.
In her welcome address, the Proprietress of Grace of Light Schools, Lady Patricia Adaeze Ideh, said the training reflected the school’s commitment to continuous staff development and the pursuit of quality education.
Ideh explained that exposing teachers to modern teaching methods, effective classroom management and sound administrative practices would ultimately enhance pupils’ learning experiences and improve overall school performance.
She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing accessible, affordable and government-approved education, while announcing that admission into the 2026/2027 academic session is open for prospective pupils from Okpanam, Asaba and neighbouring communities.
The proprietress also challenged members of staff to remain dedicated to their responsibilities, noting that their professionalism, commitment and passion would contribute significantly to the growth of the institution and the academic success of its pupils.
The programme featured additional presentations by Pastor Felix Ubuwere and Mr. Anthony Okenyi, who examined the responsibilities of teachers and the importance of teamwork in achieving educational goals.
Ubuwere encouraged teachers to work collaboratively, saying a united workforce creates a more productive learning environment. He also urged educators to treat every child fairly and without discrimination, stressing that equal attention and care are essential to building confident and successful learners.
