OGBOMORO/Nigeria: In a rare celebration of commitment to sustainable development, Dr. Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor of Delta State, has been honoured as an SDGs Advocate of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Ogbomro, Warri, Delta State.
This prestigious recognition, bestowed alongside other esteemed Nigerians, highlights Dr. Palmer’s dedication to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The ceremony, held at the institution’s SUG Hall in Ogbomro campus, witnessed the presence of notable figures such as Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission; Dr. Shola Mese, a renowned security consultant and Chairman/Managing Director of Focus Guard Security Limited/FBI Security; Hon. Princes Benedicta Attoh, Chairman of Etsako East Local Government, Edo State; and Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, Group Managing Director of Orrion Trust Group.
Dr. Palmer, in a moving acceptance speech, dedicated the accolade to two influential figures who have profoundly impacted his journey. He first paid tribute to Dr. Jonathan Oniovoa Ososuakpor, a revered bank executive, industrialist, and philanthropist known for his tireless efforts in environmental rejuvenation, particularly in Emevor, where he sponsored tree planting and installation of solar-powered streetlights. Dr. Palmer hailed Dr. Ososuakpor’s commitment to sustainability and community development as a personal inspiration.
Furthermore, Dr. Palmer dedicated the award to the late Honorable Barrister Tim Kome Owhefere KSC, a distinguished statesman and former Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly. He credited Hon. Owhefere for catalyzing his political trajectory and acknowledged his impact on Dr. Palmer’s political visibility today.
Expressing gratitude to Governor Sheriff F.O Oborevwori for his visionary leadership and support for youth empowerment, Dr. Palmer highlighted the Governor’s role in enabling the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development agenda.
The ceremony, marked by the planting of trees around the institution, served as a testament to Dr. Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel’s unwavering dedication to advancing the SDGs and driving positive change within his community and beyond. His leadership and advocacy inspire others to champion causes that uphold sustainability, social responsibility, and community development.
