ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF), the umbrella organization representing online newspaper proprietors in Delta State, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected executive members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council.
In a statement issued by Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, Chairman, and Mr. Shedrack Onitsha, Secretary of the Forum, the DOPF urged the newly elected chairman, Mr. Churchill Oyowe, and his team to take immediate measures to restore the lost glory of the journalistic profession within the state.
Following the democratic process that unfolded on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the NUJ Secretariat in Asaba, the DOPF conveyed its warmest regards to Mr. Churchill Oyowe and the elected officials.
The Foum applauded the resounding support the leaders received, emphasizing the faith and confidence vested in their charisma and leadership capabilities by the members of the NUJ Delta State Chapter.
In their statement, the DOPF advocated for a leadership approach that emphasizes impartiality and an all-inclusive open-door policy. They stressed the importance of recognizing the diverse voices and talents that compose the rich tapestry of the NUJ.
As staunch custodians of journalistic integrity and fairness, the DOPF expressed unwavering support and commitment to contributing to the growth and development of journalism in Delta State, offering their leadership anticipatory collaborations.
The statement also celebrated the outstanding participation of their members, Mr. Felix Ekwu and Josephine Omodior, who not only contested but secured decisive victories in their respective positions as Vice-chairman and Assistant-Secretary.
The Forum commended their dedication and commitment to the journalism profession, expressing pride in their achievements and encouraging them to be illustrious ambassadors of the Forum and the wider journalists’ community.
