EFFURUN/Nigeria: Residents, commuters and business operators around the DSC Roundabout axis of Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, have applauded Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori following the opening of the newly constructed DSC Roundabout flyover to vehicular traffic.
The flyover, constructed by Julius Berger, has been widely described as a transformative intervention that has eased traffic congestion, boosted commercial activities and improved the urban outlook of Effurun, Warri and adjoining communities.
An opinion survey along the corridor showed overwhelming consensus that the DSC Roundabout, PTI Junction, Effurun Roundabout and Enerhen Junction flyovers have brought lasting relief to an area previously notorious for gridlock, poor road conditions and economic slowdown.
Mr. Shuaibu Aduku, a resident of Nehemiah area for over 19 years, recalled the hardship commuters endured before the project. “Movement was extremely difficult, especially during peak hours. You could spend hours trying to cross this point. Now everything is faster—transportation, business and daily life. The governor deserves full credit,” he said.
Another resident, Mr. Abednego Osia, said the difference between the past and present road conditions was striking. “This place was unacceptable for a major urban centre. Today, movement is free, and the gridlock is gone. The governor is truly working for the people,” he noted.
Mrs. Vincent Miracle said the flyover has also improved social and religious activities in the area. “The environment is now cleaner, organised and beautiful. We pray God gives the governor strength and wisdom to do more,” she said.
For Mr. Victor Ayoro, the project reflects purposeful and people-centred governance. “Clear roads, better access and improved safety have changed our daily lives. The impact of this administration is visible,” he said, urging the government to sustain the momentum and create more jobs.
Blessing, an indigene of Uvwie, described the flyover as an end to years of suffering. “This place used to be jam-packed, but now everything looks neat and organised. Governor Oborevwori has turned things around,” she said.
Business operators also reported significant gains. Mr. Akpobofene Akatuba, who has run a business in the DSC–PTI axis for over 14 years, said the project has revived economic activities. “The old road was a nightmare. Today, businesses are thriving, bigger opportunities are coming, and the environment has completely changed,” he said.
Overall, residents and traders commended the governor for prioritising infrastructure development, describing the DSC Roundabout flyover as a symbol of people-oriented governance, strategic urban renewal and a major driver of mobility and economic growth in Delta State.
