OGHARA/Nigeria: Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday staged a massive show of unity, unanimously endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone, and Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement, which formed the highpoint of a well-attended Unity and Reunification Rally at Oghara Township Stadium, signaled a renewed cohesion within the party, as stakeholders declared their readiness to close ranks and consolidate on existing political gains.
The rally drew a large turnout of party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters, all united in celebrating what they described as the restoration of peace and internal harmony within the APC structure in Ethiope West.
Moving the motion for the endorsement, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Halims Agoda, justified the call for continuity by pointing to what he described as visible achievements recorded by both the President and the Governor. He painted Delta State as “a construction site,” citing ongoing infrastructural development, improvements in healthcare and education, as well as sustained investment in human capital.
“It is not fair to change a winning team,” Agoda declared, stressing that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership aligns with the constitutional responsibility of government to ensure the security and welfare of citizens. He thereafter formally moved that President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, Hon. Ibori-Suenu, and other APC candidates be adopted as sole candidates for the 2027 elections.
The motion received swift backing as Engr. Chief Emmanuel Ighomena seconded it, emphasising that unity and continuity remain essential for the party’s growth and electoral success, a position that was greeted with loud applause from the enthusiastic crowd.
Representing the Governor, Chief Paulinus Akpeki described the rally as both symbolic and historic, attributing the renewed unity within the party to deliberate reconciliation efforts and Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to peace and inclusiveness.
“What we are witnessing today is not by chance,” Akpeki stated. “It is the result of deliberate effort and genuine concern for the future of our party. The time for division is over. Ethiope West is too important to be divided—we must move forward together as one united family.”
Also addressing the gathering, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu described the rally as a turning point, calling for genuine reconciliation among members and urging them to let go of past grievances in the interest of collective progress.
“This is not cosmetic reconciliation,” she said. “This is a call for true unity. We must forgive, rebuild trust, and work together. Only God can divide us now—no one else can.”
In his remarks, Chief Ighoyota Amori characterised the event as a defining moment in the political trajectory of Ethiope West, noting that the shift from division to unity would significantly strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
Other stakeholders, including Hon. Christian Onogba, Chief Champion Kpategi, Chief Dr. Wilson Omene, Hon. Hope Abijor, and Hon. Blessing Achioja, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need to sustain the newfound unity and intensify grassroots mobilisation across the local government area.
Chief John Nani, in a strongly worded address, cautioned party members against the use of social media to fuel division, urging discipline, loyalty, and responsible engagement among leaders and supporters.
“As we leave here, those who thrive on spreading discord must stop,” he warned. “We are one family now. Follow your leaders with sincerity and do not sow seeds of division.”
The rally ended on a resounding note of solidarity, with party faithful reaffirming their commitment to unity, discipline, and collective success, while the overwhelming endorsement of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, and other APC candidates underscored growing confidence in their leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
