Ndokwa West Aspirant Ozegbe Backs Okowa’s Senate Bid, Hails Delta North Leaders’ Move

Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and APC House of Assembly aspirant, Mr. John Ikechukwu Ozegbe, as Ozegbe endorses Okowa’s 2027 Delta North Senatorial bid.

ASABA/Nigeria: A frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Ndokwa West Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. John Ikechukwu Ozegbe, has thrown his weight behind former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, over his decision to contest the Delta North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Ozegbe, in a strongly worded endorsement, described Okowa’s acceptance of the call by Delta North leaders as timely and strategic, noting that it reflects the collective will of the people of the zone and a renewed push for experienced representation at the National Assembly.

The House of Assembly hopeful spoke in reaction to the recent visit by prominent leaders from Delta North to the former governor, during which they urged him to join the senatorial race—an appeal Okowa reportedly accepted with what Ozegbe described as humility and a firm commitment to deliver on the mandate.

“I want to wholeheartedly express my joy and happiness over the decision of His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa (Ekwueme), to accept the call by our leaders from the zone to contest for the Delta North Senatorial Seat in the 2027 elections,” Ozegbe said.

He noted that the development aligns with the aspirations of many stakeholders who have long advocated for Okowa’s return to the Senate, citing his track record and prior experience as key advantages.

“This is one decision that most of us have been clamouring for, because Dr. Okowa is a tried, tested and proven leader who has already distinguished himself as a Senator. He is, without doubt, the best man for the job,” he added.

Ozegbe further expressed confidence that Okowa’s return to the Red Chamber would not only consolidate on his previous legislative achievements but also deepen development across Delta North through what he described as progressive, coordinated, and experienced representation.

He pledged his “unalloyed support” to the former governor, stressing that Okowa’s presence in the Senate would position the district to attract greater dividends of democracy, particularly in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda in Delta State.

The APC aspirant also commended the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, alongside other leaders of Delta North, for what he termed a bold and decisive step in rallying support behind Okowa’s senatorial ambition.

“Let me express my profound gratitude to our distinguished Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and all Delta North leaders who took this bold step. Their action has cleared doubts and uncertainties regarding our senatorial representation with this clear and decisive endorsement,” Ozegbe stated.

He concluded that the move has strengthened political direction within the zone ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing optimism that it would galvanise support and unity among stakeholders across party lines.
