ASABA/Nigeria: In a pivotal meeting at the Government House, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has emphasized the imperative of unity to HRM Clement Oghenerukevwe Ikolo, Urukpe I, the Ovie of Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
This counsel comes in the wake of the monarch’s recent release from military custody, where Governor Oborevwori commended divine intervention for his freedom.
The governor, extending congratulations to the monarch, stressed the urgency of consolidating peace and harmony among the people of Ewu-Urhobo. Highlighting ongoing efforts, Governor Oborevwori announced the inauguration of the Ewu IDP Camp, assuring swift action to resettle displaced persons from Okuama back to their community.
Speaking directly to HRM Ikolo, Governor Oborevwori urged him to actively engage with all sectors of his kingdom, emphasizing the pivotal role of leadership in times of crisis. “The charge before you today is to put Ewu together. Let your people be united and you should also unite with them,” asserted the governor.
Accompanied by members of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, including HRM Maj-Gen Felix Mujekpero (rtd.), Chairman of the Council and the Orodje of Okpe, HRM Maj-Gen Felix Mujekpero (rtd.), the Ewu-Urhobo monarch expressed profound gratitude to Governor Oborevwori and other stakeholders for their instrumental roles in securing his release.
Amidst condemnation of the tragic Okuama incident and expressions of solidarity, the monarch, vehemently denying involvement, echoed calls for peace and unity in the region. The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Orhue I, echoed similar sentiments, advocating for peace to catalyze sustainable development across the state.
The visit not only symbolizes reconciliation but also underscores the urgent need for collective action to restore stability and prosperity to the Ewu-Urhobo Kingdom and beyond.
