
ASABA/Nigeria: Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has paid glowing tribute to Niger Delta icon, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the occasion of his 55th birthday anniversary.
Guwor, who described the celebrant as a towering figure in the Niger Delta struggle and a symbol of resilience, commended Tompolo’s enduring contributions to peacebuilding, youth empowerment and national development, noting that his impact continues to resonate across the region and beyond.
In a goodwill message issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker extolled Tompolo’s role in promoting community development, empowering women and youths, and safeguarding critical national assets.
“Today, I join millions of Niger Deltans, Nigerians, and all lovers of peace and development across nations, to celebrate a living legend, my uncle and leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo. Your life is a testimony of resilience, fearless advocacy, and uncommon love for our people,” Guwor said.
He noted that the celebrant has consistently stood in the gap for the marginalized, giving voice to the voiceless and demonstrating the true essence of leadership.
“You are not just a father figure to me personally, but a symbol of hope to an entire generation. Your interventions in critical times restored peace where there was conflict, and your vision has continued to inspire others, including governments at all levels, in the pursuit of a better nation,” he added.
Guwor further remarked that from Gbaramatu to the wider Niger Delta creeks, Tompolo commands respect built on years of sacrifice and commitment to the people.
“From Gbaramatu to the creeks and beyond, your name commands respect because it is built on sacrifice. The people are proud to walk the path you cleared,” he stated.
The Conference of Speakers Chairman also acknowledged Tompolo’s stabilising role in the Niger Delta and his mentorship of emerging leaders, describing his leadership style as a benchmark for patriotism and purposeful service.
He emphasized that Tompolo’s investments in human capital development and his peacebuilding efforts constitute enduring legacies that will outlive generations.
Rt. Hon. Guwor, on behalf of his family, the people of Warri South West Constituency, the Delta State House of Assembly, as well as the leadership and members of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, prayed for continued strength, good health and greater accomplishments for the Ebipamowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
