ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on their inclusion in the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.

Guwor, who is also Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, described the appointments as recognition of the political experience and contributions of the two Delta leaders to governance.

The APC’s recently released campaign council structure names Oborevwori as Director, Finance/Treasurer, while Okowa is listed among members of the Stakeholders’ Mobilisation team.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker said the roles had significance beyond the individual appointments, describing them as an indication of the confidence placed in the two Deltans to contribute to the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Guwor said both Oborevwori and Okowa had acquired considerable experience in public office and could deploy that experience in their respective responsibilities within the campaign structure.

He particularly acknowledged Oborevwori’s leadership as governor of Delta, while noting Okowa’s experience as a former governor and his subsequent involvement in national politics.

“I warmly congratulate our dear Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and our immediate past Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on their well-deserved appointments as members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council,” Guwor said.

He described the development as a source of pride for Deltans, irrespective of political affiliation, and expressed confidence that the two leaders would contribute meaningfully to the campaign’s objectives.

The Speaker said Oborevwori’s administration had continued to pursue what he described as purposeful and inclusive governance through its MORE agenda, while Okowa’s experience in state and national politics would be valuable to the campaign organisation.

Guwor urged the two leaders to approach their new responsibilities with the same commitment they had demonstrated in their previous public assignments.

“I am confident that His Excellencies will deploy their vast experience and leadership capacity to the success of the assignment. Their track records speak for them, and I have no doubt that they will add immense value to the campaign council,” he said.

The Speaker also wished Oborevwori and Okowa wisdom and strength in carrying out their respective responsibilities, saying their involvement provided an opportunity for them to contribute further to the political process at the national level.

The APC’s campaign council, whose membership has now been publicly released, includes serving political office holders, former public officials and other stakeholders across various directorates. The structure places Governor Oborevwori in a key financial role, while Okowa is among the personalities designated for stakeholder mobilisation.
