ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has described Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s Christian Icon of the Year award from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as recognition of his faith and approach to public service.
Guwor conveyed his congratulations in a message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, on behalf of his family, the people of Warri South-West Constituency and the Delta State House of Assembly.
The Speaker, who also chairs the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, said the honour was consistent with what he described as Oborevwori’s humility, devotion to God and demonstration of Christian values in public office.
According to Guwor, the governor’s leadership reflects a commitment to fairness, service and the welfare of Deltans. He said the recognition by the Christian body had brought pride to the state.
“By this national acknowledgment from the Body of Christ, you have once again brought pride to Delta State. Your life remains an inspiring example that faith and governance can work together for good,” the Speaker stated.
Guwor said members of the State Assembly had witnessed the governor’s commitment to what he described as godliness, good governance and the unity and progress of Delta State.
He added that the legislature’s leadership and members were pleased to be associated with the governor’s achievement, describing the award as an affirmation of his faith-driven approach to leadership.
The Speaker also offered prayers for continued wisdom and strength for Oborevwori, expressing hope that the recognition would encourage him to devote himself further to serving God and humanity.
The Christian Icon of the Year award was presented to Oborevwori during CAN’s 50th anniversary celebration at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The recognition formed part of the association’s anniversary activities honouring individuals for their contributions to public service, Christian values and the country.
Guwor’s message adds the Delta legislature’s voice to the congratulations following the governor’s national recognition.
