AGBOR/Nigeria: A birthday celebration for Dr. Hilary Obioma Ibegbulem in Agbor, Delta State, also served as a political mobilisation event, with supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) using the gathering to encourage grassroots backing for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Organised by De Frontiers Dynamic, the procession began at Government Field in Agbor and proceeded along the Lagos–Asaba Road to Owa Model Secondary School on Owa Ekei Road, where supporters and political stakeholders assembled to celebrate Ibegbulem.
Organisers and eyewitnesses reported a large turnout of youths and women from across Delta North Senatorial District. The account put the number of buses conveying participants at more than 250, while over 35 support groups were said to have joined the gathering at the venue. These figures were not independently verified.
The event attracted APC chieftains, party supporters and other political stakeholders, turning the birthday celebration into an occasion for discussing the party’s electoral ambitions in Delta State.
Former Delta State Governor and APC Delta North senatorial candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, thanked participants for their support for the party and congratulated Ibegbulem, describing him as a worthy son of Anioma.
Okowa also urged party members to intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections, calling for greater commitment to securing victory for APC candidates.
Earlier, the President of De Frontiers Dynamic, Mr Tony Ujor, said the rally was organised both to celebrate Ibegbulem and to strengthen grassroots support for the party.
The chairmen of Ika North East and Ika South local government areas, Hon. Monday Odigwe and Hon. Jerry Ehiwarior, respectively, commended the turnout. They interpreted the gathering as a demonstration of the APC’s support base in Delta North.
However, attendance at a party-organised event does not, on its own, establish the level of wider electoral support across the senatorial district. The party’s eventual strength will be tested through voter participation and the results of the 2027 elections.
The celebration ended on a symbolic note with the cutting of a birthday cake designed around a lion motif, associated by supporters with Ibegbulem’s image and personality.
Beyond the festivities, the gathering reflected the growing use of personal celebrations and support-group networks as platforms for political engagement ahead of the next general election.
