The keenly contested exercise, which attracted party faithful and observers from across the constituency, was widely commended for its transparency, credibility and peaceful conduct.

At the end of the voting process, Mrs. Tony-Obuh polled an impressive 287 votes to defeat her closest challenger, Mr. Oriehi Destiny, who garnered 101 votes. Mr. Eugene Orewa secured 40 votes, while Mr. Kennedy Oyeason polled 32 votes.

Her victory immediately sparked jubilation among supporters, party members and residents who thronged the venue to celebrate what many described as a decisive endorsement of her leadership credentials and political vision.

Speaking shortly after she was declared winner, an elated Mrs. Tony-Obuh expressed gratitude to party delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in her.

She pledged to work tirelessly to strengthen the NDC and position the party for victory in the forthcoming general elections.

According to her, the overwhelming support received during the primary election reflects a shared commitment to progress, development and responsive representation.

“The massive support from our party members today is a testament to our shared vision for progress,” she said.

“I am deeply confident that this incredible momentum will be replicated when we head to the polls for the main election, and I am officially elected to the Delta State House of Assembly in 2027.”

Mrs. Tony-Obuh further assured constituents that she would provide effective, compassionate and people-oriented representation if elected, stressing that the welfare and aspirations of the people would remain at the centre of her legislative agenda.

Reacting to the outcome, a prominent party stakeholder, Mr. Paul Etumudor, described her emergence as a major boost for the NDC, noting that she possesses the experience, community acceptance and leadership qualities required to deliver victory for the party.

He said Mrs. Tony-Obuh represents the best choice for the NDC, citing her administrative competence, strong grassroots connection and commitment to public service.

Although the formal ratification and publication of the results by the party’s National Working Committee is being awaited, observers present at the exercise commended the orderly conduct of the primary and the maturity displayed by contestants and supporters throughout the process.

Political analysts believe the outcome has further strengthened the NDC’s position in the constituency as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
