Why a Man/Woman of Ndokwa Extraction Should be Governor of Delta State Come 2015-Undokwa Unite

Map of Delta State

The Ndokwa people occupy a strategic geographical position in Delta State, sitting in three Local Government Areas; Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West and Ukwuani located at the Centre of Delta state and between two great rivers – Ethiope and the Niger. Ndokwa person as a governor of the multi-ethnic state will enhance peace and stability. Thus, Delta State is a mini-Nigeria, while Ndokwa is a mini-Delta state with vast languages and ethnic coloration inherent therein – Ijaw, Isoko, Urhobho, Itsekeri, Ika, Aniocha, Oshimili etc.

 Ndokwa is the only ethnic nationality in Delta state where many other ethnic groups have been living together in peace as indigenes of one united nationality irrespective of dialectic dissimilarities. Ndokwa is the second largest ethnic group in Delta state. Notwithstanding the physical population and active involvement of the people in politics right from the then

Mid-West Region and Bendel state, Ndokwa man’s attempts to govern this state has been a fiasco. Prominent among Ndokwa sons who were turned down included Dr Godwin Iwegbue and Chief Odili Ibuaka who aspired in Bendel state and in present Delta State, Prof Eric Agume Opia, Late Dr Joshua Enueme, and ChiefGodwill Obielum had aspired but were unjustly robbed.

 Ndokwa Nation is a major contributor to Nigerian economic purse through massive crude oil reserves (about 500 million barrels) and largest natural gas reserve in West Africa (over 5 trillion cubic feet of Natural gas reserve) according to extant seismic and geological drilling data. Exploration is still in progress. .Major petroleum companies such as Nigerian Agip Oil

Company (NAOC), Total (Nig.) Ltd. and Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) etc. are all engaged in oil and gas exploration and exploitation in Ndokwa Land. OML 60 was discovered in Ndokwa land in 1965 by NAOC which has since been operating in Ndokwa land; one in the swamps and creeks of Ase and others at Okpai, Benekuku, Aboh respectively. Then Elf (now owned by Total) operates OML 56 and discovered oil in Umuseti, Umusadege, Amoji, Emu, Ogume, etc – all in Ndokwa land. Shell which operates OML 38 discovered oil in Umutu, Asuakpo, and Okuibome etc. New oil fields are being discovered by new generation Oil Companies: Umusadege (by Western Oil and Gas), Umuseti (pillar Oil) Ebedei, Asuakpo and Unrutu fields (Platform PetroleumiSeplat) etc. Similarly, greater attention is being paid to the Gas stream which has bigger potentials for our economy.

 In 2005 Federal Government commissioned the Okpai Independent Power Plant which is currently generating, and contributing 956 Megawatts of electricity to the national grid;

serving 14 states from Obosi in Anmbra where it was stepped down. In the same manner, Gas from Ndokwa fields is being channeled into the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG)

trains in Bonny throughAGIP pipelines. As at this moment, neither Ndokwa son nor daughter has occupied any top position in the affairs of Delta State since inception except Rt Hon. Olisa Imegu who was a Speaker for a short space of time. Rt Hon Martins Okonta (from Ika)

occupied the position but when he was also removed, the Ika People insisted that it must remain in their Federal Constituency and that agitation brought in Rt Hon. Sam Obi as the speaker of Delta State House of Assembly. Rt Hon. Sam Obi eventually became acting Governor of Delta State during the Re-run election. In Delta North, an Ika man in the person of Simeon Ebonka was deputy to Governor Ibru while Chief Benjamin Elue from Obio in Aniocha North was also deputy to Chief James Ibori. Currently the speaker is from Aniocha/Oshimili, Aniocha person (Okonjo Iwala) is the current Minister of Finance and

SSA on Performance and Evaluation Monitoring is Professor Monye. Oshimili has Ngozi Olojeme in the Presidency. Ika has Dr Festus Okubor as Chief of staff Government House Asaba. Current Senator representing Delta North is Dr A. I. Okowa and the New CBN Governor Mr Emefele and Ndokwa son/daughter have been denied all of these positions.

Ndokwa has vast arable land for agricultural purposes, vast. Pool of human resources with rich credentials capable of turning the fortunes of the state for better.

 For Equity, Fairness, and justice, a son or daughter of Ndokwa extraction should be given an opportunity to serve the state as a Governor.
