Nigerians Called to Invest in Education

Nigerians had been called to invest in education to help promote the socio economic development of the country.
Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, the Executive Director, Social Services Development on the board of the Delta state Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), made the call during the maiden matriculation and robing of the Chancellor of the Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo in Burutu LGA, on Saturday 14, November 2015.
The Executive Director who represented the Managing Director, Mr Williams Makinde, made the call while addressing news men at the end of the occasion, said that governments cannot go it alone, when it comes to issues of education in the country, and is always good when individuals and corporate bodies are involved on issues of education at all levels.
“It is high time Nigerians Invest in Education, as an investment in education will be the greatest legacy we can leave, and it is an investment for the future”. He said.
While congratulating the founder and Chancellor, Chief Senator Edwin Clark for situating the university in the conducive environment of Kiagbodo, he called on the students to count themselves lucky, most especially the first hundreds of them that are beneficiaries of the founders Scholarship scheme.
“What he had achieved with building this institution can’t even be spoken off, he has not only brought education closer to his people, he has also left a lasting legacy that will stand forever even after he is gone”.
He pointed out that as a human, there is nothing left for Pa Clark to achieve. He is an Elder Statesman, a father to all, a man worthy of emulation and one that has committed so much into Nation building.
