The nurses embarked on a solidarity march to thank Governor Oborevwori for his role in resolving their longstanding grievances under the previous nursing leadership.

During the march, the nurses carried placards with various messages, including “Governor of Destiny, Delta Nurses say Thank you” and “Victory for Nurses will better the health of Deltans,” expressing their appreciation for the positive changes brought about by the governor’s intervention.

Comrade Julie Eto, the NANNM Public Relations Officer in the state, commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to justice, stating, “Governor Oborevwori has also redeemed the education of Nurses in Delta State. We are here to say thank you to the Secretary to the State Government because he was the mediator of the meeting that brought in this victory.”

The nurses expressed their belief that Governor Oborevwori’s actions would have a lasting impact, with Comrade Eto adding, “Because Delta State Nurses are just vessels standing in for God to treat, Governor Oborevwori will never know sickness. His team will never know sickness. You have set the pace for justice and other states will learn from Delta State.”

In response, Governor Oborevwori, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, thanked the nurses for their appreciation and assured them of his commitment to ensuring justice in all sectors of the state. Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of healthcare in the state, stating, “Health is a very important sub-sector of our economy and we can’t afford to meddle with it.” He encouraged the nurses to focus on their duties and minimize union activities to ensure the quality of healthcare delivery in the state.

The governor’s response resonated with the nurses, who pledged to continue their work with renewed dedication, echoing their anthem’s call to serve as intermediaries between the sick and God. They expressed their appreciation for Governor Oborevwori’s support and promised to uphold their commitment to delivering quality healthcare services in Delta State.
