ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called for greater tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians as Muslims across the country mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The Governor said the values associated with the life and teachings of the Prophet, including compassion, humility, sacrifice, tolerance and service to humanity, remained important to Nigeria’s efforts to build a peaceful and united society.

Oborevwori stated this in a goodwill message to Muslim faithful in Delta State and across Nigeria, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on the occasion of the celebration.

He encouraged Muslim faithful to reflect on the Prophet’s example and apply the virtues of compassion, humility and tolerance in their interactions with others.

Oborevwori also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to an inclusive Delta State where citizens can live and pursue their legitimate aspirations without discrimination based on religious, ethnic or political differences.

He called on the Muslim community to continue contributing to the peace and development of the state and to support initiatives aimed at building a more prosperous and united society.

The Governor further urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace, stability and progress in the country, particularly at a time when national unity and peaceful coexistence remain important to sustainable development.
