
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has extended warm felicitations to elder statesman and community leader Chief Godwin Ogbetuo on the occasion of his 96th birthday, describing him as a symbol of integrity, courage and selfless service.
In a goodwill message issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the governor commended Ogbetuo for a lifetime of principled leadership and unwavering commitment to good governance and accountability in Delta State and Nigeria.
Oborevwori said the nonagenarian’s contributions to public life have left enduring imprints on the political and socio-economic development of the state, noting that his exemplary record of service continues to inspire present and future generations of leaders.
The governor particularly recalled Ogbetuo’s tenure as Chairman of the Delta Elders and Leaders Forum, describing his leadership as purposeful and marked by rare insight, moral clarity and courage at critical moments in the state’s democratic journey.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I warmly felicitate our revered father and leader, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, as he marks his 96th birthday,” Oborevwori said.
“You have distinguished yourself as a patriot and elder statesman whose steadfast dedication to humanity and public service has contributed immensely to the growth, stability and progress of Delta State and Nigeria,” he added.
The governor prayed that God would raise more leaders who embody Ogbetuo’s virtues of wisdom, integrity and true statesmanship, while asking for continued good health, strength and divine grace for the elder statesman as he celebrates the milestone.
