ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated his Ekiti State counterpart, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his historic re-election victory, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of purposeful leadership and people-centred governance.
Governor Oborevwori said Oyebanji’s landslide victory in the 2026 governorship election was a reflection of the confidence, trust and overwhelming support the people of Ekiti State have for his administration and its developmental strides.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori noted that the victory was particularly remarkable as it made Oyebanji the first sitting governor in Ekiti State to secure a consecutive second term since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Oyebanji, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election with 319,224 votes to earn another four-year mandate from the people of the state.
Oborevwori said the historic feat underscored the growing acceptance of Oyebanji’s leadership style, which he noted has been characterised by inclusiveness, political stability and sustained development.
He also attributed the governor’s overwhelming victory across the 16 local government areas of the state to the unity and cohesion within the APC in Ekiti State, as well as the commitment of party leaders, stakeholders and grassroots supporters.
“Your re-election is a clear endorsement of your administration’s achievements and your unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Ekiti State,” Oborevwori stated.
The Delta governor expressed confidence that Oyebanji’s second term would consolidate ongoing development initiatives and accelerate the socio-economic transformation of the state.
He prayed for God’s guidance, wisdom, strength and good health for the Ekiti governor as he prepares to begin another tenure of service to the people.
Oborevwori further urged Oyebanji to remain steadfast in his commitment to good governance, expressing optimism that his administration would continue to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State.
