Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, of Delta State

ASABA/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has assured residents of Delta State that his administration will sustain efforts to expand infrastructure, strengthen the economy and promote inclusive development as the state marks 35 years of existence.

The governor conveyed the message in an anniversary statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, ahead of the state’s 35th anniversary on August 27, 2026.

Oborevwori described the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on Delta State’s journey since its creation in 1991 and recognise the contributions of individuals and institutions that have helped shape its development.

He acknowledged the roles played by successive administrations, traditional rulers, religious leaders, public servants, private-sector operators and residents in building the state over the past three and a half decades.

The governor said his administration would continue to build on the foundations laid by previous governments through policies focused on infrastructure renewal, economic growth and improved opportunities for residents.

According to him, the objective is to ensure that development initiatives translate into tangible benefits for people across the state while creating an environment that supports economic activity and social progress.

Oborevwori urged Deltans to maintain the unity and peaceful coexistence that have contributed to the stability of the state, saying collective participation remained important to achieving sustainable development.

He also appealed to citizens to continue supporting initiatives aimed at advancing the state, assuring them that his administration would remain focused on delivering what he described as people-oriented governance.

The governor said the anniversary should also serve as a reminder of the responsibilities of both government and citizens in building a stronger Delta State.

He expressed optimism about the state’s prospects, saying the years ahead should bring greater opportunities and continued progress for its people.

Oborevwori congratulated Deltans in Nigeria and abroad on the anniversary and called for renewed commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility.
