ISIOKOLO/Nigeria: The traditional marriage between Innocent Oborevwori, son of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Tobore Arigbodi, daughter of businessman and Managing Director of Librod Energy Limited, Chief Brodericks Arigbodi, has brought together prominent figures from politics, business, traditional institutions and the wider Delta community.
The ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Arigbodi family residence in Isiokolo, headquarters of Ethiope East Local Government Area, where the families formally celebrated the union in accordance with Urhobo customs and traditions.
The event featured traditional marriage rites, family introductions, prayers, cultural performances, music and dancing, with relatives and invited guests participating in the celebration.
Among those who attended were Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme; former governors Chief James Onanefe Ibori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Senator Ede Dafinone; Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. Francis Waive; and Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Mr. Chiedu Ebie.
Members of the Delta State House of Assembly, commissioners, local government council chairmen, government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, business executives and community representatives also attended the ceremony.
The presence of the two families remained central to the celebration, with Governor Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, joining Chief Brodericks Arigbodi and his wife in receiving guests and sharing in the occasion.
The traditional proceedings included the presentation of the groom’s family, acceptance of the bride and other customary rites associated with an Urhobo marriage.
The ceremony also featured cultural displays that reflected the traditions of the Urhobo people, with music and dance providing entertainment for guests.
Adding a musical dimension to the celebration was Port Harcourt-born artiste Duncan Mighty, who performed for guests during the event.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for political leaders, business associates, community figures and family friends to celebrate with the couple and their families.
Guests offered prayers and goodwill messages to Innocent and Tobore, wishing them a peaceful and fulfilling marriage founded on love, mutual understanding and commitment.
The ceremony concluded with the families expressing appreciation to relatives, friends and other guests who travelled to Isiokolo to share in the celebration.
