Oborevwori Reassigns Commissioners Following Resignation of Cabinet Members Seeking 2027 Assembly Seats

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved fresh supervisory responsibilities for two commissioners following the resignation of key members of the State Executive Council who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Under the new arrangement, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Princess Pat Ajudua, has been directed to oversee the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development pending further directives from the state government.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, has been assigned supervisory responsibility over the Ministry of Youth Development with immediate effect.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu.

According to Aniagwu, the temporary restructuring of the ministries became necessary following the resignation of the former Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Ms. Orode Uduaghan, and the former Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. ThankGod Harry Trakiriowei.

He explained that both former commissioners resigned from the State Executive Council to pursue their political aspirations ahead of the 2027 elections.

Aniagwu stated that the two former cabinet members are seeking to contest seats in the Delta State House of Assembly.

The statement noted that Governor Oborevwori appreciated the former commissioners for their contributions and dedicated service to the development of Delta State during their tenure in office.

The governor also wished them success in their future political and personal endeavours.

According to the statement, the new supervisory arrangements take immediate effect pending further announcements and possible substantive appointments by the state government.

The latest development is seen as part of ongoing political realignments within the state ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle, which is already beginning to reshape political calculations across several ministries and constituencies in Delta State.
