OSUBI/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, have received Distinguished Service Awards from the Covenant Voices and Youth Ministry of Living Faith Church, Winners’ Chapel, Osubi, Delta State.
The recognition was presented during the church’s Sunday service in appreciation of what the organisers described as the couple’s contributions to the Christian faith and the development of Delta State.
Elder Johnson Ogunleye, who presented the awards, said the Governor and his wife had demonstrated commitment to Christian values and service to society.
The ceremony also provided an avenue for the church to support two youth-oriented programmes, SHABACH 2026 and the Annual Youth Alive Conference, AYAC 2026.
In a political dimension to the gathering, the Resident Pastor of the church, Pastor John Jesus-Favourite, called on members of the congregation to support Governor Oborevwori’s bid for a second term in 2027.
The pastor linked the appeal to projects and programmes undertaken by the administration and urged the congregation to continue praying for the Governor and his team.
He said the state had recorded developments in different sectors under the present administration.
The award presentation was met with enthusiastic reactions from worshippers, while some members of the church’s youth community presented customised “Sheriff Support” T-shirts to the Governor in a further expression of their support for his administration and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Some worshippers who spoke at the event highlighted road construction and other government projects as areas in which they believed the administration had made progress.
They also referenced interventions in education, healthcare and youth empowerment, among other areas of governance.
The service ended with prayers for Governor Oborevwori, his wife and the Delta State Government, with the congregation seeking peace, stability and continued development in Delta State and Nigeria.
The development comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with various groups and organisations in the state already expressing support for the Governor’s second-term ambition. Recent reports have also documented the emergence of support structures campaigning for his re-election.
