WARRI/Nigeria: Residents and motorists traversing the bustling Warri and Effurun roads are celebrating a significant step forward in the region’s infrastructure landscape with the commencement of construction activities by renowned construction company, Julius Berger. The mobilization to the construction site marks the beginning of a transformative project involving the construction of flyover bridges and the expansion of roads in the twin metropolis of Delta State.
Julius Berger officially kicked off operations on Monday, establishing its presence at the DSC Roundabout. The comprehensive project includes the construction of three flyovers, a cloverleaf interchange, pedestrian bridges, and ancillary road expansion initiatives. This undertaking aligns seamlessly with the vision of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, focused on the broader goals of infrastructure development and urban renewal in Warri, Uvwie, and surrounding areas.
Emmanuel Oghorodje, a supervising engineer from the State Ministry of Works, was on-site to oversee the initial phases of the operation. Oghorodje assured the public of the contractor’s meticulous planning and demarcation of the roads prior to mobilization. He expressed confidence in the commitment of Governor Oborevwori to ensuring the timely completion of these vital projects, emphasizing the expected efficiency and delivery schedule set by Julius Berger.
To mitigate potential disruptions, Oghorodje detailed measures in place to alleviate traffic congestion during the construction period. He urged road users to adhere to instructions and comply with the guidance of traffic officers to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
Motorists in the area were quick to commend Governor Oborevwori for spearheading these landmark projects and voiced their anticipation for a swift and successful completion. Traders in the vicinity also joined in the chorus of praise, recognizing the potential boost in economic activities once the projects reach fruition.
This development follows the signing of a N78 billion contract on October 18, 2023, between the Delta State Government and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for the ambitious construction of three flyovers, a cloverleaf interchange, pedestrian bridges, and ancillary road expansion projects in the economically vital Warri and Effurun metropolis, cementing its status as the economic nerve center of Delta State.
