ASABA/Nigeria: Young people from Delta State seeking opportunities to join the Nigerian Navy have been urged to take note of the ongoing Basic Training School Batch 39 recruitment exercise and complete their applications before the October 31 deadline.

The call was made by the Delta State Government through the Director-General of the Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, who said the state was providing information to young people on available enlistment opportunities in the military and paramilitary services.

Oghenesivbe said registration for the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 39 opened on October 2, 2026, and would close on October 31.

He advised prospective applicants to use only the Nigerian Navy’s authorised recruitment platform to register, upload their credentials and print the documents required for subsequent stages of the exercise.

The Navy’s recruitment guidelines provide for entry through several educational, professional and trade categories. Applicants with O’Level qualifications are required to be 18 to 22 years old as of December 31, 2026, while different age limits and qualification requirements apply to candidates entering through OND, NCE, medical, trades and sports categories.

Among the general conditions are Nigerian citizenship by birth, possession of a National Identification Number, physical, medical and psychological fitness, and compliance with the Navy’s prescribed standards. The service also specifies minimum heights of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females.

The recruitment guidelines further require applicants to meet the relevant educational conditions for their chosen category. Candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, for instance, are required to have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.

Oghenesivbe said the available areas include Marine and Mechanical Engineering, Weapon Electrical Systems, Communications and ICT, Seaman and Survey, and Medical Service.

He urged applicants to ensure that the information supplied during registration is accurate and that all documents submitted are genuine.

The Navy has separately warned prospective applicants against paying money to anyone claiming to have the ability to secure enlistment. Its published guidelines state that registration and other recruitment processes are free and that each applicant is permitted to submit only one application.

The service has also advised candidates to rely on its authorised communication channels for recruitment information, following reports of unauthorised notices and attempts to mislead prospective applicants.

Oghenesivbe said the Delta State Government’s awareness campaign was aimed at ensuring that qualified young people were informed about legitimate opportunities to pursue careers in the nation’s military and paramilitary services.

He encouraged eligible Delta youths to study the recruitment requirements carefully and submit their applications before the closing date.

The Nigerian Navy’s official recruitment platform is the channel designated for applications and recruitment information.
