Oghenesivbe Hails New VC, DVC Appointments, Commends Oborevwori’s Push for Academic Excellence

ASABA/Nigeria: The Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. (Barr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has congratulated four distinguished academics on their elevation to key leadership positions in the state’s tertiary institutions, describing the appointments as well-deserved and reflective of merit and excellence.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Oghenesivbe lauded Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for recognising the contributions of the scholars, noting that their appointments align with the administration’s commitment to strengthening higher education in the state.

The Bureau Chief listed the appointees as Prof. Eric Eboh, now Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor; Prof. Sunny Awhefeada, Vice Chancellor of Southern Delta University, Ozoro; Prof. Joyce Ogwezi, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Dennis Osadebey University, Asaba; and Prof. Presley Obukadata, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Southern Delta University.

He particularly highlighted the roles of Professors Ogwezi and Obukadata in advancing Mass Communication and contributing to the success of the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop (DELCOM), an annual capacity-building platform for political appointees, media professionals, and social media influencers.

Oghenesivbe paid special tribute to Prof. Ogwezi for her consistency as a trainer and Chief Trainer at DELCOM, noting that her impact earned her the affectionate title, “Mama DELCOM” among participants across various cohorts from 2019 to 2025.

He stated that members of the DELCOM community deeply appreciate her dedication and contributions, expressing confidence that she will bring the same level of excellence to her new role as Deputy Vice Chancellor.

The Director-General also commended the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, for his strategic support and alignment with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which he said continues to drive progress in the education sector.

“DELCOM celebrates Professors Eboh, Awhefeada, Ogwezi, and Obukadata on their well-deserved elevations,” Oghenesivbe said, adding that the appointments underscore the state government’s resolve to promote competence and strengthen institutional leadership.

He further noted that under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, Delta State has witnessed significant improvements in educational standards and infrastructure across its tertiary institutions, describing the trend as a testament to the administration’s unwavering commitment to excellence.
