Oyo State Governor’s Reappointment of OYOSUBEB Chairman Earns Praise from Education Stakeholders

IBADAN/Nigeria: A coalition of professional bodies comprising the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), and the Forum of Education Secretaries has lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for the re-appointment of Dr. Nureni Adeniran as the Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB).

At the inaugural meeting between Dr. Adeniran and the Board’s management team, representatives from these bodies expressed their gratitude and support for the governor’s decision.

Comrade Oladimeji Raji, the Chairman of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) in Oyo state, commended Governor Makinde’s proactive approach towards teachers’ professional development. He expressed his appreciation for Dr. Adeniran’s reappointment, describing him as an ideal fit due to his extensive experience in the education sector. Raji highlighted Adeniran’s past achievements, emphasizing the positive impact during his previous term in office.

“The education sector was thrown into a happy mood on hearing of your appointment as the chairman, OYOSUBEB. It is another plus and feather to our caps,” remarked Comrade Raji, reflecting on the positive outcomes witnessed during Adeniran’s earlier tenure.

Comrade Adedeji Adekunle, Chairman of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria, echoed these sentiments, congratulating Dr. Adeniran on his well-deserved reappointment. Adekunle praised Adeniran’s personal attributes, including sacrifice, humility, and notable contributions to the education sector during his previous term.

Mrs. Olaide Ladipo, the Coordinating Director of OYOSUBEB, expressed optimism about the positive impact expected from Dr. Adeniran’s return, anticipating accelerated development in both the Board and the basic education sub-sector.

Furthermore, the Forum of Education Secretaries commended Governor Makinde for his commitment to the welfare of teachers within the state.

In response, Dr. Adeniran urged both teaching and non-teaching staff of OYOSUBEB to carry out their duties diligently, emphasizing the importance of responsibility, accountability, and transparency. He emphasized the necessity for all departments and units to align with the vision of repositioning the basic education sub-sector and encouraged innovative contributions to enhance the system

Dr. Adeniran emphasized the significance of discipline and commitment, stressing adherence to civil service rules as integral components for achieving their objectives. His charge resonated with a call for unity and dedication toward the common goal of advancing education within Oyo State.
