Senator (Dr) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa
The issue of appointment into the new government of Senator (Dr) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa in the state is already generating serious tension in many of the state LGA’s as perceived supporters of the Governor during the preparation to the election are feeling cheated due to submissions of the LGA party executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In Ukwuani LGA, many of the supporters of the Governor are feeling cheated, among those is a former Secretary to the Local Government, and a notable preacher who devoted most of their time to work for the success of the governor, they are pointing accusing fingers or what they termed the “Local Government Cabal”, led by a formal female governorship aspirant, and one time Secretary to the state Government.
Ndokwa Reporters can authoritatively report that a list containing supposed names of political leaders of the PDP has been submitted to the governor, while abandoning the true persons who worked for his success in the area.
Speaking to us, one of the aggrieved persons says that he is still having the hope the governor will not act whole on the list as submitted by the LGA party executive in his appointment, because if he does that it will be a disservice to those who worked for him, even when others abandoned him do to the interests of the immediate governor, Dr Emmanuel Okowa, before the primary that gave Okowa the ticket.
However, the concerned group had called on the governor to jettison the list and appoint credible persons from the LGA into his government. According to them “the list is a reflection of old selfish politicians who have nothing to contribute to the welfare of the people”
They also claimed that there were names which were supposed to have reflected on the list, but were surprised to have seen only names of a group of people who belong to a cabal, most of whom, benefitted in the past administration.
The list has the following names:
Chief Chinonye Dafy-A former Aspirant to the House of Rep
Monday Ossai-PDP LGA Chairman
Isaac Onyesom- A retired Police officer, and former ADC to for Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili
Hon Ochor Ochor-Immediate Transition Chairman of Ukwuani LGA
Hon Solomon Ebinum- Immediate Secretary to the Ukwuani LGA
Hon Basil Ishiekwene-A Chairmanship Aspirant in the last LGA election under the PDP.
However, names of such persons as Mr Stanley Odali, who was asked by the party to step down for Hon Alphonsus Ojo, with a promise of appointment because of the interest of the then Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan was not considered, Barr Kennedy Nwanshidi and many others, and the big question the people are asking is what can these people do for Ukwuani, the same people that had been in government.
