Police Announce Shooting Event for Nigeria Police Games, Assure Ogwashi-Uku Residents of Safety

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Police Command has notified residents of Ogwashi-Uku and surrounding communities that a shooting event for the ongoing Nigeria Police Games tagged “ASABA 2026” will take place at the Base 31 Police Mobile Force Shooting Range between Sunday, February 15 and Thursday, February 19, 2026.

According to a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe, the exercise will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will involve the controlled use of firearms strictly within the designated shooting range.

The command emphasized that comprehensive safety and operational protocols have been put in place to ensure that the event proceeds without risk to residents, urging members of the public not to panic upon hearing gunfire sounds within the vicinity during the scheduled period.

Authorities also announced that access to areas immediately surrounding the range will be temporarily restricted for security reasons, advising residents and motorists to comply with traffic diversions and directives that may be issued by officials deployed for the exercise.

The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, reassured the public of the command’s commitment to professionalism and safety throughout the duration of the sporting activity, while expressing appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of residents. He added that enquiries regarding the event may be directed to the Police Public Relations Office through its official contact line.
