
ABUJA/Nigeria: The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a new National Executive Committee (NEC) following its 2026 National Convention held in Abuja on March 27 and 28, ushering in a refreshed leadership structure expected to steer the ruling party’s affairs in the coming years.
At the helm of the party is Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who emerged as National Chairman, with Ali Bukar Dalori and Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye serving as Deputy National Chairmen for the North and South, respectively, reflecting the party’s commitment to regional balance.
Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru retains his position as National Secretary, supported by Professor AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana as Deputy National Secretary, ensuring continuity in the party’s administrative leadership.
In the legal and financial arms of the party, Murtala Aliyu Kankia takes on the role of National Legal Adviser, while Uguru Mathew Ofoke and Ambassador Haruna Ginsau emerge as National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary, respectively.
Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu will oversee party mobilisation as National Organising Secretary, while Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa assumes office as National Welfare Secretary. Felix Morka continues as National Publicity Secretary, maintaining his role as the party’s chief spokesman.
The NEC also features Senator Abubakar Maikafi as National Auditor and Dr. Mary A. Idele as National Women Leader, alongside Dayo Israel, who emerges as National Youth Leader, and Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole, representing persons with disabilities.
Supporting roles within the executive include Hammam Adamu Ali Kumo as Deputy National Financial Secretary, Barrister Emeka Okafor as Deputy National Organising Secretary, and Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim as Deputy National Women Leader.
Others are Hon. Meseko Durosinmi Josiah as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Christopher Michael Akpan as Deputy National Welfare Secretary, and Mr. Olugbenga Olayemi as Deputy National Auditor.
Barrister Ibrahim Salawu serves as Deputy National Legal Adviser, while Engineer Ben Akak and Jamaludeen Kabiru take on the roles of Deputy National Treasurer and Deputy National Youth Leader, respectively.
The party also announced its ex-officio members drawn from across the six geopolitical zones: Dr. Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi (North Central), Adamu Jallah (North East), Kano Muhammed Jamu Yusuf (North West), Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh (South East), Mr. Francis Kolokolo (South South), and Hon. Bunmi Orinow (South West).
Party leaders at the convention described the new NEC as a strategic blend of experience and fresh perspectives, tasked with strengthening internal democracy, deepening grassroots engagement, and positioning the APC for future electoral victories.
With the new leadership in place, the ruling party is set to consolidate its structures and expand its influence as it prepares for the next phase of Nigeria’s political journey.
