Dr. Peter Osede Soeze
It was an assemblage of personalities from all walks of life, when Dr. Peter Osede Soeze of the Central Hospital, Agbor, Delta State was conferred with the Ezinna (Good Father) title by the St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Owa, Ika North East Local Government Boji – Boji Owa in Delta State (Isele-Uku Diocese) at its fathers’ day celebration and first conferment of Ezinna title recently.
Conferring the prestigious title on Dr. Soeze, the parish priest, Very Rev. Fr. Leonard Biachi said it is in recognition of Dr. Soeze’s immense contributions, hard work, dedication and commitment to the growth and development of the parish and churches in general. To this end therefore, all dignitaries and catholic faithful’s present rose and called him “Blessed”.
Dr. Soeze was born into the family of the Late Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Onwuadiegboe Soeze (Popularly referred to as D.O. Wonder) of Abuedo quarters that is , Abuisiyi (first among equals) in Ubulu – Uku, Aniocha South Local Government of Delta State. He attended Abuedo Primary School, Ubulu – Uku where he obtained his first school leaving certificate (FSLC) and Anglican Grammar School, Ubulu –Uku for his West African School Certficate (WASC) where he was senior prefect 1980/81 academic session.
As part of his interest in academics and professionalism, he proceeded to the Federal Government College (FGC) Warri for his HSC/GCE Advanced Level. In view of the good grades at the HSC/GCE A/L he was admitted into the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) where he came out with flying colours, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees in 1988.
While in CMUL, he was an acolyte (mass server) at the St. Luke (The Physician) Catholic Church, Idi-Araba, Lagos.
In order to successfully accomplish his medical programme, he did his houseman-ship in military hospital, Benin-City, and NYSC at the Police Clinic, Maiduguri, Borno State.
He started his working career at the defunct Bendel State Hospitals Management Board and was posted to the Government Hospital, Ebu. Later, he was transferred to Central Hospital, Agbor.
In order to become a specialist, he proceeded to Lagos State for further training. Currently, he is a radiologist at the Central Hospital, Agbor.
He is an active member of the Ubulu –Uku Development Union (UDU), Anglican Grammar School, Ubulu –Uku Old Boys Association (AGSUOBA), Catholic Men’s Organization (CMO), and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). He is happily married and blessed with children.
Peter has earned several awards, e.g. Fellow, Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria (FIIA), Fellow, Institute of Human and Natural Resources (FHNR), and an Award of Excellence from St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, B.B. Owa.
Addressing well wishers in his private residence during reception, Dr. Soeze said he would continue with the same spirit in order to earn additional awards and be more relevant in the scheme of things as well as tenaciously serve the State faithfully, loyally and diligently especially in the medical profession and any other when called upon to do so in the interest of the State and Federal Republic of Nigeria.
