Urhobo Youths Coordinator Condemns Army Killings, Calls for Urgent Investigation

WARRI/Nigeria: Dcn. Monday Enudi, Coordinator of the Urhobo Youths Democratic Movement and National Coordinator of Citizens Rights Concern Enhancement Initiative, has strongly condemned the brutal murder of four officers, 12 junior personnel of the Nigerian Army, and civilians in Okuama community, Ughelli South local government area of Delta state.

Expressing sympathy for the families of the fallen officers, soldiers, and civilians, Enudi raised deep concerns over the retaliatory invasion of Okuama community by Nigerian Army troops. He described the killings of community members as genocidal and urged both federal and state governments to launch investigations into the incidents.

Enudi hailed the slain military personnel as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, responding to a distress call. He called for the constitution of an investigation panel involving the police, DSS, and government officials to look into the killings and destruction in Okuama community, including the purported “peace mission” initiated by the Army without proper community engagement.

Additionally, Enudi urged swift government intervention to provide relief materials to the displaced persons and victims of the army invasion in Okuama. He criticized President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and the Delta State Commissioner of Police for their alleged lack of response to the crisis.

Enudi also commented on recent security issues in Asaba, urging the Delta State government to proactively address insecurity, especially concerning attacks by Hausa Okada riders. He called on Deltans to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in ensuring peace in Asaba and the entire state, emphasizing the need for community leaders, youth leaders, and traditional rulers to collaborate with security agencies to combat criminality effectively.

In conclusion, Enudi emphasized the importance of vigilance and community involvement in reporting suspicious activities to security agencies, advocating for a united effort in maintaining security and peace in Delta State.
