ASABA/Nigeria: Barely days after unveiling another major flyover project, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to break ground on the N59.7 billion Uromi Junction Flyover on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, further accelerating his administration’s infrastructure renewal drive.
The project, located along the Lagos–Asaba Expressway at Uromi Junction, is a key component of the state government’s sustained effort to expand critical urban infrastructure and address traffic bottlenecks across major cities in Delta State.
In a statement on Sunday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, said the groundbreaking ceremony would commence at 11:00 a.m., urging all invited guests to be seated by 10:00 a.m. to ensure a hitch-free event.
Ahon disclosed that construction activities had already commenced at the project site ahead of the official flag-off, a development he said reflects the administration’s insistence on prompt execution of major public works.
He added that the contracting firm, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, has fully mobilised to site and begun preliminary works, reinforcing government’s commitment to delivering the project within schedule and to expected quality standards.
The Uromi Junction Flyover is coming barely a week after the state government performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the N39.3 billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover project in Ughelli, underscoring the pace of infrastructure delivery under the Oborevwori administration.
With the Uromi Junction project, the number of flyover projects currently being executed by the state government has increased to five, marking an unprecedented scale of urban road infrastructure development in the state.
The flyover projects are part of the government’s broader urban renewal agenda aimed at easing traffic congestion, improving road safety, reducing travel time and stimulating economic activities across strategic corridors and commercial centres in the state.
State officials have consistently maintained that the investments in flyover construction are designed to reposition Delta’s urban centres for growth, enhance mobility and improve the overall quality of life for residents.
